Hello my friends and readers! After my last a little desperate blog entry (thank you for the lovely emails I received, it was really uplifting) my creative blockage somehow vanished and everything seemed to fall into place. Since i decided not to continue seek, the seekyogicstyle.wordpress seems to be a bit lost.
Please come and visit my new webspace – the domain I had for years – and finally, I am getting to use it. And what better name could it be then www.tangerinesamurai.com.

Oh, for those who read this through facebook: I won’t feed the new blog into FB – most of you guys are all designers and I don’t want to bore you with stuff that might be an old hat (or not?). I’ll link entries here and there. But would love if you could leave a comment sooner or later.

I decided to change gears a bit with my new blog, although I will stick to posting about my handmade projects, I have set out to target it a bit more towards design. Because, at the core, this is what it’s all about for me. I just love design. I always loved it and will never stray from it. Whatever shape or form it may take in the future, it’s what moves me. Weather I will design as a freelancer, design a clothing line or sewing patterns or the heck I come up with in the future, I just love design. It will be full with all kinds of things pertinent to design, color, inspiration, trend info – weather created by myself or found on the net.

So please, stick with me. visit me over at my new space, bookmark me, subscribe, spread the word… I’d love to hear what you think.

Just a couple more pictures of my Daffodil sweater that I finished in February. For some reason I have been a bit lame on photographing, uploading, tinkering and posting projects I have been working on lately. I know why things have been really slow for me…

But there is good news as well! Andy got his visa extension approved last Thursday! It’s been over 1.5 years that we have been in limbo about weather we’d be staying here in the States or would have to move back to Europe. It’s funny how the perspective is suddenly shifting. We have been ignoring the possibility of moving but to know that we can stay for at least 3 more years is exhilarating.

Unfortunately I still can’t work and earn money. This is probably the biggest ‘mindfuck’ (pardon my language but it really is!) for me. Because, if you are not allowed to be engaged in the profession that you have chosen, then you start loosing perspective. In my case, I forget all the achievements i have done in my professional life and wonder where my career went? I have all the time in the world but time runs by and I still feel that I dont’ get things done. I know, a lot of people out there don’t have jobs and no income and are struggeling with life as such – but this is my blog and I am using and abusing it to vent about what this hiatus means for me. I am an idea person and have so many that it keeps stalling the progress. Because not being allowed to start doing something when the idea or inspiration hits then you constantly start second-guessing yourself and your idea. You make plans and get to a certain point, then another idea hits and you start over, and over and over again. I don’t have any idea how long it’ll be until I will be able to start working again, but up to now I haven’t managed to put a website together because I simply can’t choose what I want to do once I can? Should I simply go freelance and work in my old profession but without corporate ties? What should the name be? I have about 3 possible options but how can I design a logo if I can’t choose the name? I have most enjoyed making things for my family: sewing, knitting etc. I love the idea of making patterns but haven’t even attempted to draft one that is multiple size, or tried myself in writing instructions. After having abandoned the idea of continuing seek, the yoga line, I toyed with the idea of creating another line for women and girl. But now that I have all this time, I seem to have forgotten how to get about it. How the heck did I manage to do all my seek development phase after my day job? Also, we have had our domain for a long time, I finally was able to set it up but now I am at a loss of what to do with it? What will I do with this blog? Shall I continue or transfer to the other domaine? What theme should I chose? I like the idea of writing a book and have thought about topics but one week later I second guess myself. Blahhhh, you get the picture… Welcome to my world.

I have been trying to keep it simple but I still can’t get out of my spiral.

Andy says I should just relax and enjoy the time. And he is right. I should start meditating…

Now my wallpaper is officially competing against my dress. Pardon the terrible photo quality, the exposure is totally off and the weather wasn’t helping either. And next time I won’t be taking pictures from an angle as high  as this one. But I thought, I post anyways. Who knows, when I get myself to take another picture, weather being nice to me AND have washed hair…
The fabric of this dress is a find at Mills End, $2.99/yard and has been there since 1999. That means 11 years sitting there – would you consider this vintage? When do we speak about vintage anyways? I’d personally start in the 70s and earlier. Everything after that I’d call by it’s aera. But how about you? When do you start calling something vintage?

It isn’t summer yet but this weekend we were once again drawn to get out of the city. The weather forecast predicted one sun filled day before the rain would hit again. While Andy practices surf techniques on his Dumpsterdiver, I am practicing the manual modes on our camera.

Noch hat der Sommer gar nicht angefangen, aber fuer einen Tag letzten Freitag war schoenes Wetter angesagt – und uns hat es  natuerlich wieder raus aus der Stadt gezogen.

Waehrend Andy seine Surftechnik auf seinem Dumpsterdiver verfeinert, uebe ich mich photographieren im manuellen mode unserer Kamera.

Ich freue mich immer wenn ich was wunderschönes aus der Gegend entdecke (SE Morrison) und Pigeon Toe Ceramics ist genau das. Ich kann mich gar nicht entscheiden, was ich als erstes haben möchte. Die Salz und Pfeffer Streuer ‘Askew’, die Hängeurne mit Lederriemen ‘Patio’ oder den Lampenschirm einfach nur so zum anstaunen? Ich mag Lisa Jones´Aesthetik jedenfalls sehr gerne.

Letztes Jahr habe ich ein Logo gemacht für einen neuen Kindergarten, den einige der `Tanten´von Leona gegründet haben. Ich hab einfach eins von Leona´s schönsten Gemälden als Hintergrund genommen und mehr hats eigendlich schon nicht mehr gebraucht. Die website ist jetzt am laufen und ich bin ganz stolz auf meine Kleine. Heisst das jetzt, dass ich sie ausbeute?

I finished my third rendition of the Birch Lace Shawl from Rowan 34. This one is the first one I made for myself however.  I didn’t use lace weight yarn, and I could have gone a needle size up as well for the lace pattern to come out more clearly. But I love it anyway.

Too late, I found a tutorial on the split and spit method here, it would have come in extremely handy for this project.

Ich habe endlich meinen dritten Birch Spitzen Schal fertig gestrickt. Ist aus Rowan Heft 34. Diesmal ist der Schal nur für mich!. Ich hab nicht das original Garn genommen, und mit der Nadelgröße hätte ich auch ne nummer höher gehen können, damit das Spitzen Muster besser rauskommt. Aber ich mag den Schal trotzdem super gerne!

Leider habe ich zu spät diesen blog eintrag von Nancy gefunden. Die Split and Spit Technik hätte ich hier wirklich gebraucht. Einfach Garnenden aufzwirbeln, die beiden offene Stränge vom zu Ende gehenden Wollknäul und neuem Knäul mit etwas Spucke zwischen Daumen und Zeigefinger zusammen reiben, bis die sich untereinander verfilzt haben, und dann einfach weiter stricken. Und wenn man die offenene Enden einfach bisschen zurückschneidet, kann keiner sehen, wo die Garnenden sind. Clever, oder?
